The UAE has shared developments in rain enhancement and cloud-seeding science with consultants at a world webinar.
The UAE Analysis Programme for Rain Enhancement Science (UAEREP) spotlighted international breakthroughs in environmentally accountable cloud seeding in the course of the newest session of its Rain Enhancement Hub Webinar Sequence.
Now in its twelfth version, the session was held below the theme “Design and Testing of Pure Substance Flare Packaging for Chilly Cloud Seeding” and featured analysis led by Thai scientist Siripen Somruen of the Royal Rainmaking Expertise Analysis and Improvement Division.
UAE cloud-seeding science
Somruen offered her research into pure options to silver iodide, historically utilized in cloud seeding.
Her analysis focuses on eco-friendly substances with sturdy ice-forming talents, packaged in specialised flares for chilly cloud seeding operations. The goal is to help extra sustainable climate modification methods.
Dr. Abdulla Al Mandous, Director Common of the Nationwide Centre of Meteorology (NCM) and President of the World Meteorological Group (WMO), stated: “Rain enhancement presents a promising alternative to diversify our water assets and scale back dependence on conventional provides.
“Within the face of accelerating stress on present water reserves, it’s a precedence for NCM to collaboratively advance novel rain enhancement applied sciences that help each long-term water safety and environmental sustainability.
“By means of internet hosting this webinar sequence, we proceed to strengthen this strategy by making a dynamic platform for scientific change and analysis collaboration.”
Alya Al Mazroui, Director of UAEREP, stated: “We’re grateful for the precious insights shared by Siripen Somruen, whose work underscores the essential position of environmental issues in cloud seeding.
“The Rain Enhancement Hub Webinar Sequence demonstrates our dedication to facilitating significant data change that deepens scientific understanding and promotes the sensible utility of various strategies on this essential analysis area.
“At UAEREP, our purpose is to make sure that cloud seeding applied sciences stay each efficient and environmentally accountable via the event of superior supplies with optimum properties.”
UAEREP continues to fund pioneering analysis, together with a landmark challenge by Prof. Linda Zou, a First Cycle awardee and Adjunct Professor at Victoria College in Australia. Her group developed nanotechnology-based NaCl-TiO2 (CNST) cloud seeding supplies, making the UAE the one nation globally to make use of such eco-friendly core-shell particles in operational seeding efforts.
These superior supplies, produced from naturally occurring and protected compounds, have demonstrated superior efficiency in enhancing precipitation throughout a wider vary of atmospheric situations.
