In a serious breakthrough, Mumbai’s Saki Naka police have busted a large-scale mephedrone (MD) manufacturing unit in Mysore, Karnataka, and brought into custody 4 people and seized medication and uncooked supplies value ₹381.16 crore.

The unlawful operation was being run out of a hid facility behind a storage on Ring Street in Mysore, in response to Indian information companies.

The investigation was triggered by the arrest of a person on April 24 within the Saki Naka space for trying to promote mephedrone. This led to additional raids in Vasai’s Kaman village, the place police recovered 4.053 kg of the artificial drug and related supplies valued at ₹8.04 crore. The information companies mentioned a number of different individuals have been taken into custody following subsequent raids at different areas.

One of many accused, Salim Imtiaz Sheikh (45), also called Salim Langda, revealed throughout interrogation that the mephedrone was being sourced from a unit in Mysore. Primarily based on this data, the police launched an in depth technical evaluation and surveillance operation, which in the end led them to the hidden manufacturing facility.

The clandestine manufacturing website was situated in a blue-sheet-covered shed behind a storage, designed to evade detection. Throughout the raid, officers seized 188 kg of mephedrone, two ovens, 12 heating machines, and huge portions of chemical compounds together with isopropyl alcohol, acetone, chloroform, and magnesium sulphate — all used within the manufacturing of the banned substance.

The accused have been booked beneath Sections 8(C), 22(C), and 29 of the Narcotic Medicine and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, in addition to Part 111 (organized crime syndicate) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Additional investigation is ongoing.
