As a part of ongoing nationwide efforts to recuperate artifacts, the Ministry of Overseas Affairs and Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs announced on Thursday, 6 November, that it has handed over a set of recovered Egyptian antiquities from the US of America to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.
The entire variety of artifacts retrieved from the State of New York in the US reached 36 items, which left Egypt illegally.
These things comprise three primary collections. The primary assortment consists of 11 artifacts that had been confiscated by the Workplace of the District Lawyer of New York and handed over to the Egyptian Consulate Common in New York.
The second assortment consists of 24 uncommon manuscripts containing writings in each Coptic and Syriac. The third assortment consists of a painted reduction from the 18th Pharaonic Dynasty, which was returned by the Metropolitan Museum of Artwork in New York.
Following the long-awaited opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum, Egypt has intensified its international requires the return of its looted antiquities, urging museums and personal collectors worldwide to cooperate in restoring its cultural heritage.
This effort comes on the heels of current worldwide developments, most notably the announcement by the Netherlands on Sunday, 2 November, of its determination to return a 3,500-year-old stone bust courting again to the reign of Pharaoh Thutmose III.
