    International Council of Museums (ICOM) Kicks Off Tuesday – Arts & culture

    The ICOM Dubai Organising Committee is about to host the twenty seventh Normal Convention of the Worldwide Council of Museums (ICOM), the world’s largest international gathering of museum professionals, from 11 to 17 November 2025 underneath the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. Held for the primary time within the Center East, Africa, and South Asia area, the convention is happening underneath the theme ‘The Way forward for Museums in Quickly Altering Communities.


    Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairperson of Dubai Tradition and Arts Authority, will open the convention with a keynote deal with, setting the tone for a transformative week of dialogue on the evolving position of museums and their significance in preserving collective reminiscence and driving cultural progress.

    The opening day and weeklong agenda will characteristic keynote speeches and panels led by international figures, together with Her Excellency Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State of Worldwide Cooperation and CEO of Expo Metropolis Dubai Authority; His Excellency Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, UAE Minister of Tradition; Her Excellency Noura Al Kaabi, UAE Minister of State; His Excellency Rakan Al Touq, Assistant Minister of Tradition, KSA; Krista Pikkat, Director of Tradition & Emergencies, UNESCO; El Anatsui, world-renowned Ghanaian sculptor and artist; Sumayya Vally, South African architect and Principal and Founding father of Counterspace; and Kamini Sawhney Founding Director of the Museum of Artwork & Images, Bengaluru, India.

    The convention may also current a wealthy array of interactive classes, boards, and masterclasses, spotlighting the ability of youth in reimagining the way forward for museums, the significance of safeguarding intangible heritage, and the position of innovation and expertise in redefining engagement and entry.

    The Worldwide Council of Museums (ICOM) is the main international organisation devoted to the preservation, promotion, and improvement of museums and the museum career. Established in 1946, ICOM serves as a platform for the worldwide museum group, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing throughout continents. ICOM represents over 60,000 members throughout 139 international locations and territories and almost 20,000 museums worldwide. In 2021, ICOM-UAE, in collaboration with Dubai Tradition, Dubai Municipality, and the Dubai Division of Economic system and Tourism, submitted a profitable bid to host the ICOM Normal Convention 2025 in Dubai. The UAE was chosen because the host metropolis, standing out amongst competing worldwide cities for its distinguished international attain, important position in cultural and heritage preservation, and steadfast dedication to fostering a thriving inventive economic system.
