    Israel says it killed Al Jazeera journalist

    (Reuters) -Israel’s navy stated it killed Al Jazeera journalist Anas Al Sharif, whom it claimed headed a Hamas cell, in a strike on Gaza Metropolis on Sunday.

    The Qatari broadcaster stated three different of its journalists had been additionally killed, and an official at close by Shifa Hospital stated there have been seven individuals killed in complete.

    “Anas Al Sharif served as the pinnacle of a terrorist cell within the Hamas terrorist group and was accountable for advancing rocket assaults towards Israeli civilians and IDF (Israeli) troops,” the Israeli navy stated in a press release.

    Palestinian journalists’ teams condemned the killings.

    A press freedom group and a UN skilled beforehand warned that Al Sharif’s life was at risk as a consequence of his reporting from Gaza. U.N. Particular Rapporteur Irene Khan stated final month Israel’s claims towards him had been unsubstantiated.
