BERLIN (Reuters) -The Israeli assault on Hamas targets in Qatar is “unacceptable,” German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and International Minister Johann Wadephul stated on Tuesday.

“Israel’s strike in Doha not solely violates Qatar’s territorial sovereignty, but additionally jeopardizes all our efforts to safe the hostages’ launch,” Wadephul stated, noting that Qatar performs an important function in efforts to attain a ceasefire and launch the hostages.

The chancellor spoke by telephone with Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, a authorities spokesperson stated.

Merz instructed the emir that the violation of Qatar’s sovereignty and territorial integrity by the Israeli assault just isn’t acceptable.

“The struggle should not unfold to the whole area.”

Hamas stated on Tuesday that 5 of its members had been killed in an Israeli assault in Doha, together with the son of Hamas’ exiled Gaza chief Khalil al-Hayya.
