The Ministry of Overseas Affairs hosted the fourth session of the high-level strategic dialogue between the State of Kuwait and the Worldwide Committee of the Purple Cross (ICRC), chaired by Deputy Overseas Minister Ambassador Sheikh Jarrah Al-Jaber for the Kuwaiti facet, and ICRC President Mirjana Eger for the worldwide delegation.
In an announcement, the Ministry stated the discussions reaffirmed the deep-rooted partnership between Kuwait and the ICRC — spanning over three a long time — and underscored their shared dedication to upholding worldwide humanitarian legislation and defending civilians throughout conflicts.
The dialogue additionally reviewed the ICRC’s continued position in addressing the problem of Kuwaiti prisoners and lacking individuals, and joint efforts to implement UN Safety Council Decision 2474 on lacking individuals in armed conflicts, a decision launched by Kuwait throughout its 2018–2019 Safety Council membership.
The session concluded with the signing of a joint declaration and two grant agreements:
- The Kuwait Fund for Arab Financial Improvement prolonged funding to the ICRC for a venture offering well being companies and clear water in Somalia.
- The Kuwait Purple Crescent Society signed a $2 million grant with the ICRC to help healthcare entry for susceptible communities in Sudan.
ICRC President Mirjana Eger praised Kuwait’s main humanitarian position and long-standing cooperation with the Kuwait Purple Crescent Society, particularly in disaster zones equivalent to Gaza, Syria, and Yemen.
