    Kuwait completes initial phase of unified GIS for digital transformation

    Minister of Public Works Dr. Noura Al-Mashaan has introduced the completion of the foundational section of the Unified Geographic Data System (GIS) venture, a key initiative supporting Kuwait’s broader digital transformation technique and the event of nationwide geospatial infrastructure.

    Dr. Al-Mashaan confirmed that the Ministry has efficiently developed unified technical specs for geographic information submissions, overlaying all technical sectors.

    These requirements had been utilized to 12 upkeep contracts in the course of the first pilot section, establishing a framework for consistency and accuracy in information administration, in response to information companies.

    The GIS venture is a part of a long-term strategic imaginative and prescient via 2026, which incorporates implementing these specs throughout all ministry sectors.

    A key part of the plan is the creation of a centralized Institutional Geographic Information Middle, designed to handle and repeatedly replace spatial information as a major reference level for nationwide planning and infrastructure improvement.

    To assist accountability and knowledgeable decision-making, the Ministry has launched an interactive digital dashboard that tracks the progress of ongoing initiatives and upkeep work in actual time. This dashboard promotes the institutional use of GIS information in planning, useful resource administration, and operations.

    Moreover, the Ministry has adopted a field-based information integration mechanism, linking contract and work order info to GIS layers utilizing a unified coding system, developed in collaboration with related inner groups.

    To make sure information accuracy and system reliability, the Ministry maintains ongoing coordination with the Public Authority for Civil Data (PACI). This collaboration helps strengthen the integrity of the GIS system and reinforces Kuwait’s drive towards digitally enabled governance.

    Dr. Al-Mashaan emphasised that these efforts replicate the Ministry’s dedication to modernizing infrastructure administration, bettering service supply, and leveraging expertise for nationwide improvement.
