    Minister Al-Mishari issues new guidelines for naming areas and streets

    Minister of State for Municipal Affairs and Minister of State for Housing Affairs, Abdullatif Al-Mishari, has issued a choice amending provisions of Ministerial Decision No. 507 of 2023 regarding the naming of cities, suburbs, areas, roads, streets, and public squares.

    The choice clarifies that cities, suburbs, and areas can’t be named after people, besides for many who have held the place of Amir or Crown Prince of Kuwait.

    For roads, streets, and public squares, naming will be reserved for:

    • Rulers of Kuwait, kings, sultans, governors, princes, and chosen sheikhs from the ruling household
    • Heads of sister and pleasant nations
    • Historic figures
    • Nations, cities, and capitals (based mostly on the precept of reciprocity)

    The choice emphasizes that present roads, streets, and public squares with out private names will retain their present designations.

    Moreover, the modification introduces a shift in the direction of numbering roads, streets, and squares for all different instances, streamlining navigation and concrete planning whereas limiting arbitrary naming after people.

    This replace displays the federal government’s effort to standardize naming conventions and preserve consistency throughout Kuwait’s city and suburban areas.
