    New DUBAI REEF Footage Reveals Thriving Marine Life and Ecosystem Growth in Dubai’s Waters – UAE

    DUBAI REEF, a pioneering purpose-built reef improvement and one of many largest on the planet, is demonstrating important progress in enhancing marine ecosystems inside Dubai’s waters. New underwater footage from the initiative’s proof-of-concept web site showcases a thriving marine atmosphere, with ample fish populations and habitats creating across the reef modules.


    Surveys on the web site point out a considerable improve in fish populations throughout 15 native species, together with snappers, groupers, and barracuda. Early information suggests a possible 10% improve in marine biodiversity, accompanied by an eightfold improve in fish biomass – clear indicators of the initiative’s constructive affect on the native ecosystem.


    DUBAI REEF’s first pillar, Marine Habitat Restoration, will see the fabrication and deployment of 20,000 modules throughout 600 km² of the Emirate’s waters by 2027, establishing supreme situations for marine ecosystems to thrive within the years forward. Since its launch in 2024, 39% of the entire reef modules have been fabricated, with 3,660 modules already deployed. The initiative additionally contains two extra pillars – Marine Life Rehabilitation and Marine Conservation Analysis – every contributing to the broader imaginative and prescient of marine conservation and sustainability.

    A sustainability initiative by Dubai Can, DUBAI REEF was launched underneath the directive of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Government Council of Dubai.

     

    The initiative is pushed by a collaboration of strategic private and non-private companions together with Dubai Division of Financial system and Tourism (DET); Dubai Setting and Local weather Change Authority (DECCA), DP World; Dubai Chambers; Nakheel, a member of Dubai Holding Actual Property; Ports, Customs and Free Zone Company (PCFC); and Emirates. Collectively, they’re advancing Dubai’s shared sustainability targets and supporting a number of United Nations Sustainable Improvement Targets (SDGs), together with SDG 13 (Local weather Motion), SDG 14 (Life Beneath Water), and SDG 17- Partnerships.
