    Palestinians return for prayers in West Bank mosque after settler attack

    JERUSALEM (Reuters) -Palestinians in a village within the Israeli-occupied West Financial institution held weekly communal prayers on Friday after clearing insulting graffiti, damaged glass and burn marks from a mosque they are saying was focused by Jewish settlers amid a spike in assaults.

    Villagers in Deir Istiya who cleaned up the mosque advised Reuters that settlers had smashed home windows, sprayed slogans insulting Islam’s Prophet Mohammed and tried to torch the constructing in an assault on Wednesday evening.

    Reuters video of the mosque on Thursday confirmed the graffiti in addition to shattered glass, charred inner partitions and furnishings, and a burnt Koran.

    Israel’s army stated safety forces had arrived on the mosque after listening to stories of the assault however had not recognized or arrested any suspects.
