    Saudi Arabia launches first pilot phase of self-driving vehicles in Riyadh

    RIYADH — Saudi Arabia has launched the preliminary pilot section of autonomous autos in Riyadh, marking a big step towards sensible, AI-driven transport methods.

    Minister of Transport and Logistic Companies and Chairman of the Transport Normal Authority, Eng. Saleh Al-Jasser, inaugurated this system on Wednesday, emphasizing its function in enabling cutting-edge applied sciences and advancing a secure, clever transport ecosystem.

    The venture will function in real-life settings throughout seven key areas in Riyadh, together with Terminals 2 and 5 at King Khalid Worldwide Airport, Roshn Enterprise Entrance, Princess Nourah College, the North Prepare Station, and the Transport Normal Authority’s headquarters. A complete of 13 pickup and drop-off factors have been designated.

    Developed by means of a cross-sector partnership involving the Ministry of Inside, SDAIA, the Geospatial Authority, and personal corporations like AiDriver, WeRide, and Uber, the venture displays Saudi Arabia’s drive to localize innovation and foster public-private collaboration.

    The autos shall be monitored carefully by onboard security officers all through the 12-month pilot section.

    They’ll function on main highways and concrete roads underneath the direct regulatory and technical oversight of the Authority.

    Al-Jasser stated the initiative demonstrates the Kingdom’s dedication to sustainable mobility and financial progress, calling it “a mannequin for sensible and safe transport partnerships.”

    The Authority confirmed the pilot goals to arrange for broader nationwide rollout, positioning Saudi Arabia on the forefront of autonomous mobility within the area.
