(Reuters) -The Syrian central financial institution on Thursday despatched its first Swift message to the Federal Reserve Financial institution of New York, central financial institution Governor AbdulKader Husrieh instructed Reuters.
“We despatched (a) greeting message to all our worldwide correspondent banks. We began with the Federal Reserve,” Husrieh stated. “We’re telling them that … we’re again to the worldwide monetary system, and we’re wanting ahead to long-term enterprise relationships.”
Syria must make transfers with Western monetary establishments with the intention to usher in large sums for reconstruction and to kick-start a war-ravaged economic system.
