    Turkey says Russia-Ukraine ceasefire needed first before discussing troop deployment

    ANKARA (Reuters) -Turkey’s defence ministry mentioned on Thursday {that a} ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia have to be achieved first earlier than any discussions can happen on doable troop deployment for a possible reassurance drive.

    On Tuesday, French President Emmanuel Macron mentioned the drive would have French, British and Turkish troopers. Ankara, which has maintained cordial ties with each Moscow and Kyiv through the warfare, has mentioned it was open to discussing such a deployment however provided that its modalities have been set.

    “First, a ceasefire have to be established between Russia and Ukraine. Afterward, a mission framework have to be established with a transparent mandate, and the extent to which every nation will contribute have to be decided,” the ministry mentioned at a press briefing when requested about Macron’s feedback.
