    UAE unveils national logistics council to drive $54bn economy and cut red tape

    The UAE has established the UAE Logistics Integration Council, chaired by Suhail Mohamed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Power and Infrastructure, to unify methods throughout ports, customs, roads, railways, and maritime programs and strengthen the nation’s international commerce place.

    Held on the ministry’s Dubai headquarters, the primary assembly introduced collectively all federal and native entities concerned within the logistics sector to coordinate insurance policies, streamline procedures, and develop built-in companies geared toward boosting effectivity and reinforcing the UAE’s position as a number one international hub.

    Al Mazrouei stated the council goals to extend the logistics sector’s contribution to the national economy from AED136.7bn ($37.2bn) in 2024 to over AED200bn ($54.4bn) inside seven years.

    The council will oversee the development of the National Logistics Integration Strategy, with subcommittees fashioned to implement suggestions on information administration, digital platforms, and good options.

    The council additionally reviewed a presentation from the Common Civil Aviation Authority on the strategic position of air freight in supporting financial development and competitiveness.

    The assembly highlighted the Nationwide Maritime Navigation Centre as a pillar of the UAE’s logistics imaginative and prescient.

    The centre manages the nationwide built-in vessel site visitors monitoring system and the Unified Nationwide Maritime Single Window, designed to streamline operations and enhance security.

    It performs a central position in strengthening nationwide safety, supporting emergency response, offering real-time information, enhancing sustainability, and reinforcing the UAE’s standing as a worldwide maritime energy.

    Al Mazrouei stated logistics is among the pillars of the nationwide economic system, contributing considerably to GDP, creating 1000’s of jobs, and supporting key industries.

    He famous that the UAE ranked seventh globally in 2023 in logistics efficiency, reflecting the impression of investments in infrastructure, street networks, and superior applied sciences.

    He stated: “The logistics sector is consistently evolving to change into higher and extra sustainable. By way of integration and cooperation, efficiency might be enhanced, prices decreased, and a greater expertise delivered to customers”.

    Al Mazrouei harassed that joint efforts between federal and native entities, together with non-public sector partnerships, are elementary to reaching the council’s objectives and to securing the nation’s ambitions for the following 50 years.
