    Druze regain control of Sweida city after Syria announces ceasefire

    Druze fighters pushed out rival armed factions from Syria’s southern metropolis of Sweida on Saturday, a monitor stated, after the federal government ordered a ceasefire following a US-brokered deal to avert additional Israeli navy intervention.

    Combating nonetheless continued in different components of Sweida province, even because the Druze regained management of their metropolis following days of fierce battle with armed Bedouin supported by tribal gunmen from different components of Syria.

    – ‘No extra room in morgue’ –

    The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based struggle monitor, stated at the very least 940 individuals had been killed within the violence since Sunday.

    They included 326 Druze fighters and 262 Druze civilians, 165 of whom had been summarily executed, in accordance with the Observatory.
