BERLIN (Reuters) -The German authorities has cleared the best way for the supply of 40 Eurofighter Storm jets to Turkey following a constructive determination by the federal safety council, the Spiegel information journal reported on Wednesday.
Turkey has been in talks on shopping for Eurofighter Storm jets, that are constructed by a consortium of Germany, Britain, Italy and Spain, represented by corporations Airbus, BAE Programs and Leonardo.
Germany’s federal safety council, whose approval is required for arms exports, operates behind closed doorways and the federal government usually doesn’t touch upon its choices.
The German defence ministry declined to touch upon the report. The financial system ministry didn’t instantly reply to an emailed request for remark.
Earlier this week, Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan mentioned Germany and Britain took a constructive stance on the sale of the jets, including that Ankara wished to finalise the acquisition as quickly as potential.
