    Hundreds evacuated in northwestern Turkey as authorities fight wildfires

    ISTANBUL (Reuters) -Firefighters in Turkey are battling wildfires within the centre of the northwestern province of Canakkale, fanned by robust winds, and tons of of residents have evacuated in precaution, native authorities and media stated on Monday.

    Airplanes, helicopters, automobiles and round 700 personnel are preventing towards the blazes, metropolis governor Omer Toraman stated in a put up on X.

    Authorities additionally launched precautionary evacuations in areas in danger together with a college campus, army space and residential areas and urged residents to keep away from pointless journey to maintain roads clear from visitors for emergency automobiles.

    Town’s airport, the Dardanelles Strait, in addition to part of the freeway had been shut because of the wildfires, and native tv footage confirmed big plumes of smoke billowing over the hills.
