    Public Backlash

    The ambush has sparked fierce criticism in Israel. 

    The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported a joint assertion from the households of the deceased troopers, blaming the navy for “gross negligence” and expressing horror on the “recklessness” surrounding the incident.
