    New Freedom Flotilla Boat, The Handala, to Set Sail from Italy for Gaza

    This mission comes simply weeks after Israel’s assault on the Madleen, one other Freedom Flotilla boat that was seized by Israel in worldwide waters.

    The Freedom Flotilla Coalition (FFC) has introduced that it’s going to launch a brand new civilian boat on Sunday, the Handala, on a mission to interrupt Israel’s “unlawful, lethal blockade of Gaza.”

    “The vessel will carry life-saving humanitarian support and a message of solidarity from folks all over the world refusing to remain silent as Gaza is starved, bombed, and buried underneath rubble,” the FFC mentioned in an announcement this week.

    This mission, the assertion famous, comes simply weeks after Israel’s “unlawful assault” on the Madleen, one other Freedom Flotilla boat that was seized by Israel in worldwide waters.

    “Twelve unarmed civilians—together with a Member of the European Parliament, a health care provider, journalists and human rights defenders—had been kidnapped by Israeli commandos and brought a, gainst their will to Israel, the place they had been interrogated, abused, then deported,” the FFC mentioned. “Their ‘crime’?     ‘Establishments have Failed’

    Volunteer medics, attorneys, social justice activists, journalists, and neighborhood organizers shall be on board the Handala.

    The boat is known as after the Palestinian cartoon determine Handala, “a barefoot refugee youngster who turned his again on injustice and vowed to not flip round till Palestine is free.”

    The Handala will depart from Siracusa, Italy, on Sunday.

    Prison Grievance Filed

    Activists on board the Madleen included Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and French MP Rima Hassan.

    Final week, marine mechanic Sergio Toribio, the one Spanish citizen aboard the Madleen, filed a prison grievance with Spain’s Nationwide Courtroom following the Israeli navy’s interception of the ship in worldwide waters.

    The vessel was stormed by Israeli forces and the worldwide crew—together with Toribio—was detained and later deported with none authorized proceedings.

    The authorized grievance alleges that Israeli actions represent warfare crimes and crimes in opposition to humanity, dedicated within the context of a broader and systematic assault in opposition to Palestinian civilians and people searching for to help them.
