RIYADH — Saudi Arabia on Friday welcomed the announcement of a peace settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan, describing it as a “new part of understanding, cooperation, and the consolidation of safety and stability within the Caucasus area.”
In an announcement, the Overseas Ministry praised the position of the US in facilitating the accord and reaffirmed the Kingdom’s assist for all efforts aimed toward ending conflicts and enhancing alternatives for peace and improvement in troubled areas worldwide.
“The Kingdom seems to be ahead to this settlement marking the beginning of a brand new period that serves the pursuits of the peoples of each nations and the area as an entire,” the ministry stated.
The joint announcement from Baku and Yerevan confirmed the finalization of the peace and normalization of relations draft settlement, capping months of negotiations mediated by the US and Europe, together with undisclosed conferences in Washington.
