    Saudi Gazette report

RIYADH — The King Abdulaziz Metropolis for Science and Expertise (KACST) has introduced the design and manufacturing of 25 superior digital chips by Saudi engineers and researchers, in a serious leap for Saudi Arabia’s semiconductor ambitions.

Developed at KACST’s Cleanroom Lab, the chips mark a strategic milestone in constructing a sustainable and self-reliant nationwide ecosystem for rising applied sciences.

The chips, produced below the Semiconductor Specialization Program (SSP), are designed for numerous purposes in sensors, built-in circuits, photonics, and micro-electro-mechanical programs (MEMS).

These parts play a significant position in driving analysis and improvement throughout frontier applied sciences together with the Web of Issues (IoT) and electrical autos.

In keeping with KACST, the initiative is equipping nationwide expertise with hands-on expertise in semiconductor design, empowering researchers and college college students to innovate in next-generation applied sciences, and enabling native chip manufacturing for Saudi Arabia’s rising automotive and electronics industries.

The mission additionally aligns intently with the targets of the Nationwide Industrial Technique, aiming to cut back dependency on imported applied sciences and place the Kingdom as a regional hub for high-tech innovation.

By advancing native semiconductor capabilities, Saudi Arabia is paving the best way for a resilient, homegrown chip ecosystem that helps long-term nationwide sustainability targets.
