(Reuters) -U.S. officers held talks on Saturday with the authorities in Kabul over People held in Afghanistan, the Taliban administration’s international ministry stated.

Adam Boehler, the Trump administration’s particular envoy for hostage response, and Zalmay Khalilzad, a former U.S. particular envoy for Afghanistan, met with the Taliban’s International Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi.

“Each events emphasised the continuation of talks on varied present and future points in bilateral relations, significantly relating to residents imprisoned in one another’s nations,” stated an announcement from the Afghan international ministry.

There was no fast assertion from Washington on the assembly. Khalilzad didn’t instantly reply to a telephone name in search of remark.

Mahmood Habibi, a naturalized U.S. citizen, is essentially the most high-profile American detainee, in line with Washington. The Taliban denies holding him.

The Taliban administration, which took energy in 2021 after 20 years of U.S. navy intervention in Afghanistan, just isn’t recognised by Washington.
