    “In a New Light”: Saudi Ministry of Culture to present photography exhibition in Venice

    RIYADH — The Saudi Ministry of Tradition inaugurated an exhibition in Venice on Thursday as a part of “The Saudi Ministry of Tradition in Abbazia,” a cultural program hosted on the Abbazia constructing in Dorsoduro 172.

    The exhibition presents works from the Kingdom Pictures Award, an annual initiative launched in 2022 by the Visible Arts Fee to interact skilled artists and assist rising skills in images.

    Titled “In a New Gentle: Up to date Pictures from Saudi Arabia,” the exhibition strikes past acquainted representations of the Kingdom, highlighting its evolving and sophisticated landscapes.

    Curated by Mohamed Somji, it options 50 photographic works chosen from earlier editions of the award.

    The Kingdom Pictures Award operates alongside two tracks: a fee program for native and worldwide practitioners producing new works that mirror the Kingdom’s various geographies and tales, and an open-call observe that builds a platform for a rising neighborhood of photographers.

    Since its inception, the award has acquired greater than 2,000 submissions, supporting over 50 artists from Saudi Arabia and world wide, together with Argentina, Egypt, the Philippines, Morocco, the UK, the US, and Yemen.

    “Exhibiting works from the Kingdom Pictures Award on the Abbazia constructing is an excellent alternative to showcase images from Saudi Arabia to worldwide audiences,” stated Dina Amin, CEO of the Saudi Visible Arts Fee.

    “The exhibition not solely highlights the Kingdom’s depth — mirrored in its individuals, tradition, heritage, and landscapes — but in addition presents the distinctive imaginative and prescient of Saudi photographers on the worldwide stage of Venice, a metropolis famend for its dialogue with the humanities.”

    The Abbazia program underscores the inventive and cultural excellence of the Kingdom by collaborations with Venetian and Italian establishments.
