    Netherlands bars two hardline Israeli ministers

    The Netherlands has declared Israel’s finance and nationwide safety ministers persona non grata for inciting violence and urging ethnic cleaning in Gaza.

    In June, the Netherlands backed a failed Swedish proposal to impose EU sanctions on Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and Nationwide Safety Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir.

    “They repeatedly incited settler violence in opposition to Palestinians, promoted unlawful settlement enlargement, and referred to as for ethnic cleaning in Gaza,” Dutch Overseas Minister Caspar Veldkamp instructed parliament in a letter launched late Monday.

    Smotrich responded on X, saying European leaders had succumbed to “the lies of radical Islam that’s taking up” and “rising antisemitism”.

    Ben-Gvir stated he would proceed to behave for Israel, even when he was banned from coming into “all of Europe”.
